Bag It Up at Posh

Today, Posh Boutique is offering an amazing pandemic deal for shoppers. Grab a bag, fill it with up to 10 items (select merchandise) and pay just $20! I was just there yesterday and y’all, there are DVF and Michael Kors dresses for $2! Not to mention cute tops and bottoms. Racks and racks of deals that you can fill your bag with and spoil yourself! And while you’re there, you can check out some cute full-price items too, including new Louis Vuitton arrivals and an incredible lot of new silk scarves that just came in. Happy Saturday!

Tucson Fashion “To Go”

As local restaurants consider a take-out/to-go model in the age of the coronavirus, so are a handful of Tucson boutiques trying to navigate this difficult time. We’re all in this together–who knew High School Musical would be so quoted during the Covid-19 Crisis? We must support our small businesses as much as we can.

A list of a few local stores happy to deliver fashion to your Tucson door or mailbox. Check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for updates!

POSH Boutique – The designer resale boutique is offering free delivery and free shipping on all merchandise throughout the city.

W Boutique – The stylish St. Philip’s Plaza store is offering free local delivery and free shipping.

Buffalo Exchange – Though all Buffalo Exchange locations are temporarily closed, you can still sell your items by requesting a bag online. More information is available on the company’s website.

Piece by Piece –  Another St Philip’s store offering virtual shopping and free shipping.

It’s More Fun Buying Used Clothes…

A pink fringe skirt. A white feather and lace dress. White snow boots and a vintage leather jacket.

They are all things I have bought used this past year in Tucson and online, and all of them garnered more compliments than my new clothes. In fact, I now have more fun buying used clothes than new. TheRealReal founder, Julie Wainwright, said it best when she commented last year, “People don’t care if their clothes are new anymore.”

It’s also one thing Tucson does really well! This desert city is a hub not only of edgy, but luxury resale fashion. After working at the stylish Posh Boutique for three years, I won’t buy a new designer bag again. Like ever. If I need a ski sweater or sweet cowboy boots, I will head to Buffalo Exchange. When my kids want to go thrifting, they sell and buy at Plato’s Closet. And when I’m looking for other fashionable treasures I can’t find in T-town, I’m obsessed with ThredUp, an online resale marketplace.

Considering Australia is on fire largely because of climate change and our global glut of retail fashion is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases, buying resale and recycling our own clothing is something to seriously think about in 2020. I mean, the royals do it!

White Shirts Galore at Posh

I’m a hurry-up girl. Always have been. I move too fast, I knock my daughters out with my elbows if they stand too close. I take corner walls too fast. The night I won homecoming queen in college, I accidentally socked a girl in the eye who was trying to hug me. I raced down the aisle at my wedding. You get the gist..

I don’t know how to slow down, which is why, when helping a customer at Posh Boutique yesterday, I rushed past a drawer pull and ripped three, yes, THREE buttons off my white blouse! So, instead of showing everyone my stomach for the rest of the day, I looked around the store for a replacement and found the most buttery soft Madewell white blouse. And just so you know, good white blouses are sometimes hard to find in T-town. So, for all of you who need one, Posh has some nice varieties and sizes right now. Come and see and I promise….I won’t get too close.

Whimsy Finds New Tucson Digs

A Park City favorite, Whimsy boutique is opening on T-town’s East Side soon, yet its location will definitely need our shopping support! It’s soon-to-be-opened new digs take residence at the corner of Camino Principal and Tanque Verde (all you TCC gals can walk there!). That site has been a wedding dress store, the first site of Embellish and more recently, a candy store–all since vacated. Whimsy, www.shopwhimsytucson.com, which previously had a location on Oracle Road, has already outfitted its new windows with adorable wraps and statement jewelry. I even scored one of the store’s cute metallic clutches at a Christmas gift exchange a few years ago! No word yet on its grand opening, so I’ll keep you posted! Nice to know this is the start of a Tanque Verde boutique trail—Whimsy, Embellish and Posh–all in one easily drivable path.

Gucci Girl

Since this blog is all about “stylish desert survival,” this post is especially pertinent. There is really only one place to shop in T-town where you can find reasonably priced and gorgeous Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Gucci resale items. And it just happens to be where I am lucky enough to work two days a week – Posh Boutique (yes, I’m totally biased). Named one of Tucson’s best places to stop, Posh just acquired a bunch of gorgeous Gucci and Louis Vuitton belts that your millennials or maybe even you will love. These belts don’t come around every day!

Posh Life

It could be said that this petite mom with the rose-gold tresses has tapped into the same magic that crowned Sam Fox a restaurant success story.

Except in this case, we’re talking luxury resale.

In fact, when it comes to designer brands, Haley Greene Ochoa could be one of Tucson’s best resources. “I just love shopping, I love clothes,” said the owner of Posh Boutique. “I feel very lucky that I can do this.”

First opened in 2003 as the ultimate cool-girl retail spot with eye-catching ads featuring UA greats like Channing Frye, Posh is now Tucson’s luxury resale destination, offering authentic apparel and accessories from Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Tory Burch, Gucci, Hermes, Escada and many other haute labels.  Since Buffalo Exchange closed one of its locations, Ochoa’s boutique is quickly becoming the place to consign on the east side.

After a few months of working for her (writer’s disclaimer), it’s easy to see that Haley really knows her business. A fifth generation retailer—her grandparents were milliners and her mother owned a gift store in Illinois—she truly has an eye for what works and what sells.

She can also spot a fake a mile away and boasts an edgy-luxe style that her social media followers both expect and demand from her popular outfits of the day on her Instagram feed, shopposhboutique.

Besides her chic store with a cocktail bar and a girl’s dream closet-feel, Haley also operates a website, www.poshboutique.com and is constantly vetting new consignments daily. Posh offers those who want to sell items at her store 50 percent of the selling price, after thoroughly researching each piece. Designer handbags are perhaps some of the store’s most treasured finds.

Haley and her staff are now busily preparing for Black Friday, when shoppers can get their hands on the newest “It girl” pieces, along with a glass of champagne.
