As a history buff, the Lanvin label has always been a favorite of mine. Not only is it the oldest fashion house still in business (circa – 1893), but the fashion illustrations of founder Jeanne Lanvin’s designs continue to serve as beautiful inspiration for an amateur. Since celebrated designer Alber Elbaz was pushed out from the label in 2015, things have looked bleak for the elegant French brand, now under Chinese ownership. But, its latest show, under new 31-year-old designer Bruno Sialelli, has been a critical success, so truly hoping fashion history survives. Beautiful Lanvin pieces can still be found online at The Real Real and at Tucson’s Posh Boutique.

Barbie Pink is the Color of Happy
If Emily Blunt’s beautiful dress last night and Christian Siriano’s latest Insta posts are any indication, Barbie pink is the trending color right now. And honestly, I can’t think of anything the world needs more at this moment. Everything about the bubble gum-color exudes happy and pretty and harks back to childhood memories. Like, when you didn’t get the Barbie Corvette that you asked for, but realized your roller skate would work just as well!

Before you scoff, it’s true. Walmart.com carries evening gowns. You may have read that Walmart.com is going after Amazon and doing all in its power to stock as many and varied items as the company that made Jeff Bezos the master of the world. Well, that includes formal dresses. And before you get all judgy, let me list some of the brands that you will find: Parker, Tadashi Shoji, Teri Jon, Lanvin and Marchesa Notte!Β Um Ya! So, don’t say you can’t find a gown when there are many creative places besides Nordstrom, Dillard’s and the other usual suspects to find that special dress!
Super Bowl Style
When your team isn’t in the Super Bowl–and I’ll argue that Saints fans have it a lot harder than Cowboys fans like me this year–what do you wear? I offered to wear Rams colors and one very jaded person I know called me “soft.” So, that’s great. Instead, I like the varsity stripe look and I think it’s something every woman can pull off, plus the look is truly everywhere right now. Just type “varsity stripe” into the search engines of your favorite stores and you will have lots to choose from. Although, I may just try to find the most obnoxious Cowboys gear I can and wear that. They do make dresses with Jason Garrett’s face on them….I kid you not.
