Tucson Shopping Got You Down? Try These Stylish Online Options…

When you find yourself at a loss with the retail shopping in Tucson, here are two online clothing sites I recently discovered that are sure to help you stand out in a desert crowd:

Gracia – Launched by Joyce Kim in 1998, Gracia features moderately- priced, embellished tops and dresses that really top the hum-drum state of clothing options these days. From lace trench coats to architectural sleeves, Gracia apparel can be found not only on www.graciafashion.com, but also online at Rue La La and Nordstrom Rack.

Vici – I first saw the ad for Vici Collection, www.vicicollection.com on Pinterest as I was trying to figure out what to wear to a party with a ‘Festival” theme. Though this modern, California-cool line definitely caters to the smaller sizes, there are some beautiful–again moderately-priced– dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, tops, etc. Seriously, there are dresses on this site you won’t find anywhere else!

Happy Friday!

The Brilliance of the Lace Duster

A little fashion lesson from Bachelor in Paradise…

Though I watch this trainwreck of a show each week and then ache for humanity afterward, leave it to Nicole to totally impress with her white lace duster. (BTW: I know that’s Gigi in the picture, but she’s also wearing one) A duster is beautiful, it camouflages the backside and it’s easy to take on and off over jean shorts and a swimsuit. It can also be paired over a slip dress, jeans, a romper, etc.

As luck would have it in T-town, TJ Maxx carries a large selection of lace dusters right now and since it’s 109 degrees with no cool down in sight, it might be a nice purchase for Labor Day weekend!

Jo Malone at Tucson Mall

One of the few highlights of shopping at Tucson Mall during the back-to-school rush was finding this today! Jo Malone London has a huge new display at Dillard’s, right at the top of the escalators. No more having to order her elegant perfumes and candles online! But, Jo Malone is only at the Tucson Mall Dillard’s, not Park Place. (I called that location and when the operator said “Who?” Yeah, I confirmed it’s not there…)

Get Gameday Ready at Arizona Attire

It’s less than one month before the first UA football game, so it’s time to stock up for Game Day ladies! Arizona Attire at La Encantada (second level) has some very cute things right now, including new shirts, dresses and accessories. Dreamcatcher earrings anyone? The store is also stocked up on plastic purses! And I mean not just one style, but several! Someone finally got creative with the concept of a clear purse for the game. They don’t last forever either, these bags, so get yours before they sell out. Arizona Attire also has some nice sales right now, and when you are done, you can head down to VS Pink to see their new football offerings. Wow, I love this time of year!

Bebe Finds New Life on 6pm.com

Though Bebe, which once had a store in La Encantada, has closed (seems to be a Tucson trend of late…). The brand has found a new online hub on 6pm.com, and it’s really worth checking out!

Personally, I was always a bit leery to walk into the store when it was here because it seemed just a bit much, a little too in-your-face sexy. Plus, the Tucson store mostly carried smaller sizes. But, now that it’s online, Bebe has a better vibe. 6pm.com–which in itself, is an amazing site for unique clothing at a low price–carries some really pretty dresses by the brand, and most are less than $40. I have recently purchased a pink jumpsuit and a red, flowy dress — both of which fit well and didn’t make me feel like I was trying to be a teenager, grasping at my youth, trying to be something I’m not…..you get the gist.

Though the site still carries Bebe’s blingy, crystal studded clothing too, it’s definitely worth browsing through the dresses. There are some good finds!

When in Coronado, Go Vintage

IMG_4949

Though we are snarkily called “Zonies,” many of us desert dwellers flock to Coronado Island every year, between Memorial Day and Labor Day, to escape our 100-plus temps. My family has been coming here for almost 20 years, and honestly, it doesn’t feel like summer unless we have paid this magical island a visit. This year, there is a new little boutique that’s opened on Orange Avenue– Coronado Vintage. And it’s a must-visit. Not only do the owner and I share a mutual love of Fixer + Upper, but the store is a treasure trove of Coronado history. You can buy everything from grab bags of vintage collars to beach jewelry, to old postage stamps to clips that say “Queen.” And this very awesome hat (above) that I feel like a boss in. While there’s not a website, there is a Facebook page!
